Through the campus lens

I love my local University, and not just because I'm an alum (although I LIKED them slightly less after losing this past week to a particular purple team!). It's a beautiful place with exquisite landscaping and aesthetic appeal. Say aesthetic appeal three times real fast.

I like it because it's beautiful, and a wonderful place to wander. It's an especially good place to wander when you have one of those  days. You know, those days when you wake up to a whole new world and discover you don't know what those settings on your camera mean. Heck, you didn't even know your camera HAD settings....

Yeah, I have these fairly frequently. I've learned just to go with it, and enjoy the experience of re-discovering what all those little buttons on my camera do.

So I will take you on a brief walking tour of the University in Sooner City with the little buttons on my camera...

Baa-baa black sheep.  Don't touch these guys when it's 101 outside. You will leave part of yourself behind, stuck to the bronze. This was done with the "aperture" button. I think as a photographer I'm suppose to be really good with that button... but whatever.

Beautiful fountain, done in "miniature" mode. There's about a hundred fountains around campus, because nearly every past class in OU history has donated one. I'm not sure why that's the donation of choice, but I love listening to the different sounds each one makes.

Ooooo, I like this one. It's called "pop" color, and I can choose the color. These red phone booths are all over campus. They're actual working phone booths. For those of you too young to remember phone booths, rent a black & white movie and watch it. Then you'll understand. They're antiques now, with obsolete phones (that still work to make local calls!!), and I'm so glad the campus has kept this little artifact alive and well.

I liked the pop color mode so well I did it again.

The other item item of donor choice is benches. This mode is some fancy B/W mode, but I just call it "crime scene" mode. Benches seem more practical than fountains, but they don't sound as nice.

And sculptures everywhere. Can you guess the name of this one? I'll give you a hint- it's kind of like a committee meeting, except not everyone was invited to the meeting...

And finally, my view of education done with 'landscape' setting. Does anyone know what piece of art I was looking through?
