Kayaking on the 'Bird

As in many places, water has been in short supply in our part of Oklahoma for several months. Creeks have turned to gravel pits. Pond are now clay sculptures. Even the local lake has felt the deficit to the point that some of the boat ramps are closed due to low water.

However, I'm not one to let restrictive signage sway me from my self-appointed rounds. I don't have a big, high-powered, fancy fast bass boat. I have a paddle powered 10' plastic tube that I can put into almost any water anywhere. If I can walk to it, I can paddle it, provided it's at least 6" deep of course.

In some places, it WASN'T 6" deep. Holy flying fish, Batman, those birds are walking on water!

These guys did not offer to help me slog my boat across the mud flat. The middle one looks grumpy.  Not enough roughage, I would guess.

I love hitting the lake early, watching the carp roll up, hearing the blue herons croak, finding that yes, the sun did come up again today, just like yesterday, and therefore I'm going to bank on it coming up tomorrow.

I'll be there to watch for it, just in case.

Happy Trails, and may your thirst for adventure never dry up!!!
