School daze

All say Saturday we sat around. Sat around on the computer, watching football. Sat around doing homework. Sat around trying to think of interesting things to blog about. It seems like a million years since the carefree days of summer. The days when the big choices were:

1. What kind of ice cream shall we have today?

2. How much ice cream shall we have today?

3. Where are we going swimming?

4. Shall I do a butt-buster or a belly flop?

We are now in that horrid interim period of school when holidays are drawing near, which will be tons of fun, but it also means the arrival of winter, of no more holidays or school breaks till March, and slogging through slush. I hate for the holidays to come and go.  I love for the holidays to get here.

Homework is getting harder and longer. The first three book reports were fun, less so now. The locker combination works most days. The friends and class schedules have shifted. It's kinda making us crazy. Like, talking to chickens on the sidewalk crazy.

And cooler weather makes me cook more. Which makes me eat more. On Saturday I made:
  • scones
  • chicken and barley soup
  • jambalya
  • fried potatoes with sausage and onions
  • sausage and scrambled eggs
  • Pasta primavera
  • A big bowl of icing to go with the gingersnap cookies in the pantry
How much of this is left?  The bowl of icing.  But just barely. We need to think of something exciting to do. Maybe after the next game and finishing off the icing...
